Beam me to the pub...(Business)

MANAGED pub chain Mitchells & Butlers is dipping its toe in the world of computer applications, or 'apps', with the launch of an iPhone app that will show the location of the nearest Vintage Inns restaurant.

The free app, to be launched this month, will let users search an area for pubs, or use the phone's satellite technology to find the nearest of the 221 inns.

It will also allow users to book a table, view menus and receive special promotions. Later it will be adapted for iPads and Android systems on Google phones. Ultimately, M&B, Britain's biggest managed pub operator, plans to roll it out across all its 1,600 bars and restaurants.
