Go Daddy Launches Premium DNS Service

Go Daddy, a provider of services that enable individuals and businesses to establish, maintain and evolve an online presence, announced the introduction of its Premium DNS service.
According to Go Daddy, there are more than 200 million registered domain names that comprise the Internet, all of them running through DNS - a critical process which matches meaningful domain names with the numerical IP identifiers to locate that website on a particular server. Go Daddy's Premium DNS provides users with tools to enhance and protect that process.
Through Go Daddy's global Anycast (DNS routing) network, Premium DNS offers more secure DNS resolution. Traffic is balanced across multiple Go Daddy data centers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, to eliminate a single point of failure and to route DNS activities for maximized performance.
"Go Daddy customers not only take pride in their online presence, but many also depend on it for their business," said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. "With the customization tools we provide through Premium DNS, customers can tailor their DNS functionality."
Premium DNS users enjoy options such as creating a vanity name and custom DNS Zone templates for their domain name's server, as well as adding multiple users to one account. Customers have the option to perform bulk imports, exports and updates to multiple domain names at the same time.
Most significantly, customers are given the option to enable DNSSEC - a security tool that authenticates DNS records when an Internet user tries to visit their domain name. By assigning a specially-encrypted key to validate the DNS lookup, this tool can help prevent traffic from being diverted to a malicious computer and compromised, as part of an Internet attack.
