Hock: Hockeyroos out to salvage fifth place finish

It's been a case of so close yet so far for the Hockeyroos at the Beijing Olympics.

But the Australian women's hockey team will be out to salvage something from their
frustrating campaign when they playoff for fifth against Great Britain today.

A few hours later .. the team they almost pipped for a semi-final spot .. surprise
packet China .. will take on world No.1 the Netherlands for the gold medal.

The once all conquering Hockeyroos will miss out on a medal for the second straight
Olympics .. but Hockeyroos coach FRANK MURRAY believes the future is bright for his young
team .. saying a top three finish at London in 2012 is not beyond them.

Meanwhile .. dual Olympian MELANIE WELLS will draw the curtain on her 10-year career
after today's game .. saying she'll be cheering from the sidelines in future.
