Vic: State govt rejects police union's revised pay claim

The Victorian police pay dispute looks to set to escalate after the state government
rejected a revised pay claim from the police union this morning.

A Police Association meeting is under way to decide whether to implement the second
phase of police work bans, in which police would refuse to go on mobile patrols.

The police union's revised claim follows three days of intense talks between Victoria
Police management and association secretary PAUL MULLETT at a secret location.

A spokeswoman for the union confirms the claim was rejected by the government at 8am.

She would not provide details of the revised union claim, but police had earlier called
for pay rises ranging between 13 per cent and 39 per cent.

Work bans have so far closed 26 stations in recent days and threatened police patrols
at sporting events.
